The Brief: Create a Royal-themed Hike for a Corporate Team supporting the D of E Charity
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Charity came to GE in 2024 looking for an engaging royal-themed hike for a group of 300 employees from one of their Corporate partners. This hike had successfully run its first year on a Thames Path route and they were looking for something that was more connected to the D of E cause and the Royal theme that the name suggested. All participants will be raising money to help more disadvantaged young people gain life changing skills and experiences through the Award.
The Event: A 20 mile hike through London, passing over 20 Royal Sites
We have designed a route taking in over 20 Royal parks, monuments or points of interest across some of London’s iconic locations. The route and various engagement activities across it will give colleagues a bonding experience, whilst also bringing them closer to the cause of D of E and help them to understand the valuable work that D of E does for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
At the end of the hike we will be putting on a post-hike celebration at the foot of Tower Bridge, with street food stalls and drinks for all participants. We are expecting an increase in participants this year from 300 to 400 people and can’t wait to see the impact that the new route and experience will have on the relationships between the charity and its brilliant Corporate sponsor.
