We are aware that operating outdoor events come with a significant carbon footprint. We are committed to organising our events in a sustainable way as possible. We believe in the power of critical mass, and we believe that by coming together as event organisers and charities to tackle the climate emergency we can make a drastic change for the better.
We have created our first environmental report, which calculates our waste, emissions and products. We now have a benchmark from which we have set SMART goals to reduce, re-use and recycle in future years in order to meet our target to become net zero by 2035.
You can find out more about some of the actions we take to operate in an environmentally sustainable way on our B Corp report.
You can also see our first published B Corp Impact Report here.
Waste
We recycle at every event and 90% of the waste we produced is recycled. We are reviewing all of our waste management suppliers to ensure that they are completing the recycling process correctly.
Our event courses are plastic bottle free. We use refillable water containers which are filled with tap water for our participants.
We limit single-use signage wherever possible and we laminate only if absolutely necessary.
We ask all our catering suppliers to eliminate single-use plastic items.
All staff manuals and planning documents are accessed via mobile devices and are not printed.
We offer vegetarian and vegan catering options at all our events and are exploring the option of vegetarian and vegan-only options at future events.
Power
We do not over-fill our generators. We avoid all engine-idling and turn off whenever they are not in use.
We monitor usage of our generators and regularly review our options for alternative power.
Travel
We ensure there is no engine-idling on our vehicles while on site
The majority of our event staff travel in vans that are already transporting equipment to the event. For the remainder of our team we encourage lift-sharing.
Suppliers
We research our event suppliers thoroughly and make decisions based on their values and sustainability practices as well as on their costs.
We will be working in partnership with our suppliers to set goals for reducing our footprint.
Community
We always make efforts to involve our community at the event, encouraging and inspiring our event participants and volunteers to join our efforts in reducing our footprint.
